“Trivial Wood”, the name of my website reflects the beginnings of my woodworking journey.

I started off making bits and bobs, a bit of word art, a few fretwork silhouettes, some boxes, all small and trivial items.

Then I got into intarsia and this is pretty much what I spend most of my time making now, although I do still like to make a few other pieces too to keep a bit of variety in my work.

I work from commercially available patterns from the likes of Judy Gale Roberts and Kathy Wise, as well as from my own patterns based on photos. Recently I have also started doing private commissions.

Every piece is handmade and original.

I work with a variety of hardwoods and try to use the colour of the wood to reflect the subject but do also use wood stains where appropriate.
